Does anyone know , does expert flyer show *A* availability? Is it any better than the ANA availability tool and will it alert you when a seat opens?

IIRC, awards not shown for UA, US, LH, TG, SK, TK which makes it useless for me. No idea about the alert though.

Not sure what A has to do with the ANA too, but, yes, EF will show A availability, is reasonably accurate with it IME, and will alert you.

Assuming you are booking a Star Alliance award ticket (rather than an A-class fare which means different things to different airlines), IME, nothing is so powerful as the ANA tool in booking a *A award ticket.

However, I found that Expertflyer 'fills the gaps' that the ANA tool leaves. Specifically, LX and CA.

Apparently you can also check LX for free on LH's website, although of course it wont do the alert the way Expertflyer will.

At $10 a month, month to month, I found it to be a good 1-month investment when I was looking for an award flight. They also do a 5-day trial...if you get really lucky and find what you need in 5 days.

Here is the list of airlines and award/upgrade codes that expertflyer includes: http://www.expertflyer.com/sessionlessClassList.do

The ANA tool, also KVS, will display TG and SK *A award availability. I'm pretty sure it also does US and LH.
