RTW using miles
I have 400,000 plus miles in AM EX, and want to use these miles for two first/business class, 5 continent, RTW tickets later this year or early 2010, when I hope to have 500,000 miles. I am a memebr of BA, AA, Virgin, LAN, plus a few others.
Would like to include S.America, AUS/NZ, Africa
I am USA based and I live in Ft Lauderdale, FL.
Any ideas, including the FF miles needed.

One idea may be to post in the oneworld forum for the BA/AA/LA side of things. You seem to have a plethora of oneworld memberships and the destinations you want to visit are easier on ow than Star - particularly the SthAm to Oz part.
The Star carriers do offer their own RTW reward options, however each has it's own rules/redemption levels, so a generic answer is impossible.
Searches for previous posts on the matter would seem to draw the general consensus they aren't worth the miles you pay for what you can get out of them.
Welcome to FT.

Can be done for 240,000 per person in Business using * Alliance via SQ miles, and a BOATLOAD of fuel surcharges per person. Mileage awards for RTW tickets are widely considered to be a terrible deal. Because they are.

Consider that it varies a lot between *A Members:
ANA Mileage Club - 220,000 (Business) or 340,000 (First) for up 39k miles
Asiana Club - 270,000 (Business) or 360,000 (First) for up to 40k miles
Lufthansa Miles & More - 280,000 (Business) or 400,000 (First)
United Mileage Plus or US Airways - 300,000 (Business) or 400,000 (First)
BMI - 300,000 (Business) or 400,000 (First) - alternatively, can redeem for a lot of oneway awards, or use cash & miles
Shame that there isn't a single chart like the Star Silver and Star Gold charts that covers all the RTW awards on Star and/or Oneworld.
