Processing time RTW request

What's your experience on the processing time for an RTW request (done via StarAlliance tool)?
Any preference between LH and LX for ticket issuing?

Tnx!

Well, I quoted ex-KEF YRTWSTAR2 to SK desk 2 days ago and got a reply in ~7 hours. I should've felt myself lucky!

I once sent an itinerary to ANA for pricing via the tool and NEVER got a response. In the end I had to call their office in SIN directly to make the booking/pricing for the entire trip.

Hope your experience is better.

Hopefully you don't mind me being nosy - but what was the taxes/other charges on the RTW?

Was it priced in ISK?

I've never bought a RTW before, but am planning a STAR3 in Y from LHR and am trying to figure out any idea of what the taxes MIGHT be...

Thanks in advance!

Good questions. I was given a quote in USD(probably because I put US address) and Tax, YQ/YR seems to be ~950USD total(It was 16 seg itinerary and total priced ~3200 USD). I asked applied ROE and segment-by-segment Tax/YQ/YR breakdown but haven't got back from them yet.

Great- thanks for the quick reply!

The RTW I was looking at, also had 16 segments...so this is a good bit of data for me before I get my first ever RTW quote :-)

Granted, mine is leaving from LHR, priced in GBP and is a YSTAR3, but that being said, at least I know that it hopefully, won't be TOO far off from an extra US$1000 :-)

Thanks again - now I've got to wait until the 330 day window comes!

I sent an iteneray to Asiana last week. They replied within 24 hours - without telling me how much the taxes/surcharges will be... They just told me the price I already got from the *RTW planning tool When I asked them via email I was told I had to call their office in Seoul.

RTW YQ/YR/TAX info

This is what I got from SK agent this morning. They said they don't have segment by segment breakdown, but at least you could grab some idea..

(FYI, this is 16 segment itinerary covering europe, asia, africa and east coast US)

-----

Dear edta450,

Here is the detailed price info:

FARE ISK 269600
EQUIVALENT USD 2151.00

Rate of exchange: 1 ISK = 0.007979 USD

We don't have taxes shown segment by segment, here is the list of taxes for the whole itinerary:

TX001 X USD 101.94YQAC TX002 X USD 579.12YRVA TX003 X USD 8.20YQAD
TX004 X USD 5.50YCAE TX005 X USD 16.10USAP TX006 X USD 16.10USAS
TX007 X USD 5.00XACO TX008 X USD 7.00XYCR TX009 X USD 0.93USLO
TX010 X USD 7.50AYSE TX011 X USD 3.60ZPVO TX012 X USD 12.77ISAE
TX013 X USD 5.59ZUDP TX014 X USD 33.98ZNAE TX015 X USD 20.66BPDP
TX016 X USD 22.90SWAE TX017 X USD 3.96EVAB TX018 X USD 37.81ZAEB
TX019 X USD 11.84WCTR TX020 X USD 35.00CBDP TX021 X USD 30.00TZAE
TX022 X USD 8.00HYSE TX023 X USD 9.08JKDC TX024 X USD 15.00QHEB
TX025 X USD 1.00EQGO TX026 X USD 22.50RAEB TX027 X USD 6.21DESE
TX028 X USD 9.00XF

GRAND TOTAL USD 3187.29 (base fare 2151 + taxes 1036.29)

So FS total is ~700. It would be interesting how YQs would be when I quote again in April.

Thanks for feedback everyone.

It seems as it does make a difference to what airline you send it. Just got a quote (after 1 week) by LX for a RTW out of KEF. They quoted standard Swiss prices :-(

Will try again with SK and hope to have more luck there

LX refused to quote a price at all. Their E-Mail said:
"The itinerary you sent us only contains 2 shorthaul flights with SWISS. Most of your flights are with Lufthansa or United Airlines.

It is recommendable to have a ticket from the ticket stock of the carrier operating the first flight. In case of a RTW ticket a ticket from the ticket stock of the carrier operating the most flights is also recommendable."

In other words: we will not make an effort for someone who will only fly a couple of short haul trips...
Strangely enough the * calculator did not offer to send the itin to UA.

*A Calculator Email Pricing Request

I just created a RTW itinerary over the weekend. I was not aware that any airline other than LH allowed the email request for pricing because that was all that showed up (my flights were on UA/LH/TG).

Can someone clarify whether UA or other airlines will pop up in the list and what criteria may be used?

For the sake of completeness:

SK replied within 2 business days. The beginning of the quote got me worrying:
As the ISK value is so unstable nowadays, RTW tickets from Iceland are issued in Euros.

But as it turns out it was in the end even less that what I had calculated, and all in 43% of what LX quoted me. Guess the choice is easy then ...
