Holding reservations.

Couple of questions:

1) Is there a webiste one can use to check reservation codes given to hold a flight? I usually use VirtuallyThere.com for my USAirways reservations, however, my *A code won't work there.

2) I just put a JFK-ICN first class flight on hold (OZ), and was told it was only for 24 hours - that if it wasn't with USAirways (where I have my miles) that they could not hold it longer. I told the agent I just held a AC flight from YYZ-JNR last night as was told it was on hold for three days. I will call about my AC hold just to make sure, but interested to see if anyone else out there has experience with holding flights and what they've found the policy to be.

By the way, the reason I'm holding the flights is that I want to go from the east coast of the US to JNB, and go through Asia to enjoy a stop over in an Asian city (most likely BKK). I'm finding on the ANA website that business class rewards tickets in Asia are very easy to find, however, getting to Asia from the east coast is not (non-stop). I spotted a couple of possibilities (noted above), and because they are so scarce, I wanted to put a hold on those first segments getting me to Asia until my return date becomes available (return is still over the 330 day limit).

Different airlines use different CRS and thus we need to use different tools to look up. My blog entry on the topic lists many airlines, but unfortunately not Asiana. Let me do some checking.

That site does not take the alpha-numeric *A codes.

Strange need to comment on opening another post. Are there limits or rules to posting questions I'm unaware of? Granted, I am a newbie here, but my previous posts were on separate subjects, namely "What city do you personally enjoy laying over in Asia?" and "How can I trim segments?". Since my new question had to do with holding reservations and finding websites to access those held reservations, I thought a new thread would draw an answer to that new, unrelated question.

Something tells me if I opened up your refrigerator I'd find the items alphabetized inside!

The four sites Kiwi Flyer lists are the only four I am aware of.
If I get a PNR locator and I don't know which GDS it is in, I just try each of them until it works.

http://www.checkmytrip.com
http://www.virtuallythere.com

http://www.viewtrip.com
http://www.mytripandmore.com/

I think that ViewTrip and MyTripAndMore are now the same due to a merger.
