UA or US
Hi!
Flying YYZ-PHL - there is a flight on the way back which is at a more convenient time on US. But how bad is US these days?!
UA would be a connection flight - US is non-stop.
Is US "generally" on time, etc? I don't care about the service on flight - just can they get me back on time and safely...
Also these days - how stingy are they on the carry-on? Is a carry-on suitcase and a regular sized backpack okay to bring on? I'm non-status on both.
Thanks!
Andy

Although most people would agree that UA does a somewhat better job than US, in my experience both are so far below than anything you'd expect from a decent airline that it does not matter.
Take the most convenient routing and prepare for the worst so you won't be disappointed.
They do both behave like a LCC.
