Question What Am I Doing Wrong on *Alliance website?

Hello guys!

Sadly, I'm no technophobe and I'm trying to use the 'Fare Product Calculator' on the Star Alliance website for a RTW ticket.

I'm typing in the airports (and dates) of travel, but nothing is appearing in the (blank) listing area on the right hand side. I'm also clicking on the 'Load' and 'Save' buttons but still nothing happens!

What I'm trying to do is find out how to do a journey from Newark, New Jersey (which is 10 miles east of my home, I'm loathe to fly out of JFK but wouldn't rule it out) to meet my husband in either London or Zurich, then fly to Singapore where I will stay for a few weeks, then return to Newark (or again, JFK if I have to....!).

It's complicated but my spouse has just begun an expat posting in Singapore. He's going on a business trip to London and Zurich (will be in London on 10 November) and my plan is to meet up with him and then we will fly to Zurich and then to Singapore together. I plan to retun to EWR/Newark around 8 or 9 January. (FWIW we're both British citizens but have been expats in New Jersey for a few years and I'm still here as we can't sell our house and I think I want to keep my green card status for the time being ..).

My spouse hasn't booked his flights yet but he's likely to fly into Zurich with Singapore Airlines, then to London and back to Zurich....I think he wants to start building up SQ or/and *A status. Unfortunately with the economy the way it is, he will have to now fly Economy + instead of business class.

I get to fly economy all the way....

TBH...is it a worthwhile getting a RTW ticket? I don't know how 'economical' they are likely to be..?

I just wish I could work out how to get this Fare Product Calculator working on the Star Alliance website LOL!

The ticket you are looking at is a YRWSTAR1 (29K miles max) which should price out at $4088++ for a NYC departure. One issue you may run in to is that getting back to EWR from SIN cannot be done on the non-stop flight as that is Biz-only. So you'll need to either connect on the west coast of the USA or fly to JFK.

Thank you! I still have no idea how you managed to find that information - instead of using the 'online' Fare Product calculator, did you download the program instead?

Wow.....that price is high! I think it would work out much cheaper just to fly directly to Singapore from JFK....

(Actually the SQ flight goes to Frankfurt, as does Lufthansa from EWR ..perhaps I could break the journey there and somehow meet my spouse in London or Zurich). Decisions, decisions...

Just a note that the Star Alliance website doesn't behave well with Safari as your browser. Selecting airports never gets anywhere. If that's your problem try Firefox or Camino.
