MAD-LIS RT; TAP or IB?

Have a choice to consider flying either TAP or IB for a round trip (MAD-LIS). TAP tickets are slightly cheaper for date and time of my plan. Never flew TAP before. Here are my questions:

1. For a short flight like this, simply go with price?
2. Should I be concerned about IB’s existence in 3 to 4 months?
3. On TAP’s web site, can’t find way to add UA FF number (want to get UA miles) to reservation. Just call?

Thanks in advance.

Moderator, I am aware that this post can be on *A or 1W (or both). Do what you think is appropriate. Thx

I've flown Iberia and enjoyed the experience; never flown TAP. I would say on such a short flight I would choose by price. If you're trying to credit miles to the Star Alliance you could also consider Spanair.

I'm not a great fan of either Spanish airline (IB or JK), though as Dole points out, it's so short it probably doesn't make much difference in any case.

If given the choice between TP and IB, at least in economy, I would always choose TP if the price is somewhat similar. TP still gives you something to drink and a small snack, whereas on IB you would have to pay even for water. Other aspects of service, such as seat comfort, reliability, etc., are pretty much the same between the two.

TAP , no doubt. The hostess are nice and they will give you something to eat and drink. Do you know that TAP is one of the safest company in the world. And that is is one of the first where you can use you mobile phone during the flight (long course for now).

Thank you for inputs from all posters. ^
4 your eyes only,

For future reference, the correct answer to this question is: Vueling.

Thanks for that advice - I'll be sure to avoid them for that reason.

Lived in Lisbon for three years and TAP is much better than IB, IMO. Newer and cleaner planes, snacks, fewer charges. On time arrival....okay, three out of four ain't bad.

Enjoy the wait for your luggage at the LIS baggage carousel. One of the slowest in Europe.

Thank you for further affirmation of TAP over IB. I booked on TAP already.
I will be traveling with carry-on only. But appreciate the heads-up re baggage carousel performance (or the lack of).

We added our UA MP numbers at checkin.

Only certain categories of a TAP fare earn miles; we didn't know this, but lucked out, and ours were posted promptly -- about 3 weeks.

Can somebody please, please confirm me that this is NOT true? I have several reservations on long haul flights with them for the next few months, and I do not want to be tempted into a case of “air-rage”.

From their website, I understand that they are only doing tests on one A319.
