voluntary downgrade

The following is still hypothetical at this point but it's in my mind...

As part of our FRWSTAR2, later this year we will fly SYD-SIN on SQ. We are presently confirmed in A on SQ 234, which is listed as a 777-300ER. However, we are on the waiting list for the SQ 222 flight two hours earlier, which is the A380. Since there is no A (just as there is no F) on the A380, we are waiting for two seats to open up in D.

OK, say the D seats come available and we take them, giving up the confirmed seats on the other flight. But then, for whatever reason, say there's an equipment change (and, further, say it's close to the day of departure), with the A380 being replaced by a 777 or 747. And then they say, 'Sorry, there's no availability in A on any SYD-SIN flight that day'. Would we be stuck in business class without a complaint, because we had voluntarily agreed to the downgrade to D when changing the booking to the A380?

cheers,

Henry

Let's rewind.

Why on God's earth would you fly Biz on the 380 over F on the 77W?

Please, please, don't do that.

Because a) we have two other SQ longhauls in F on this RTW and b) we've not yet been on the A380.

cheers,

Henry

I expect so. You will have been rebooked into D and accepted that change.

Voluntary actions includes all consequences (potential or actual) contained therein. As stevenshev says, please don't do it. Wait for the novelty to be more widely available.

You chaps are confirming my fears but ... that's why I asked. Happily, it's still before the fact. I may just give up the waitlist plan. On this RTW I would accept D on the A380 over A on any other SQ bird but I'm not very keen on risking the chance of getting 'old C' instead.

cheers,

Henry
