*A options to RUH / Riyadh
Hi, I'll fly out of either MAA or KUL. Out of MAA, I guess MAA-DXB on TG and then DXB-RUH on whatever (say EK) sounds like a plan, if I can get it cheap enough, Saudi Arabian isnt really my favorite. Or I could fly EK.
Just wanted to see if I could pick up a few *A [or skyteam] EQM miles for that - being paid to travel in C (where my employer usually flies me coach) so seems to be a shame to waste those miles.

Try SQ via Abu Dhabi - twice a week service

I flew MCT-RUH on Saudi two weeks ago, wasn't bad at all - new Embraer 100, decent seats in Y. Meal was hot, but nothing to write home about, but on a 2 hrs flight I couldn't care less.

SQ flies only to JED, not to RUH. It makes no sense to fly DXB-JED and connect to RUH, as not only do you add 1.5 hrs of flying time, but connection from intl to dom at JED is fairly painful.
I've been flying SIN-RUH lately, and as you've discovered, *A connections from Asia to RUH are basically nonexistent. You can fly SQ/TG as far as DXB/AUH, but for the last leg you're pretty much stuck with the locals (SV, EK, EY). SV is OK for short flights, but I wouldn't want to do a long haul on them, esp. as they seem to reserve their worst planes for Asia flights.

Take QR or EK if you dont care that much about EQMs. Just note that QR has J on DOH-RUH leg and EK does not have J on DXB-RUH service and most times they put u in Y on that leg with a business ticket.
JED connection is a pain. not easy to transfer from Non Saudia terminal to Saudia terminal for the RUH leg.

Oh, I'm not complaining about the flying, it's the part on the ground that involves spending any more time than absolutely necessary at JED which is the problem... it's a really crappy airport and "transiting" between terminals involves a 20 km taxi ride.
