webwork vs. staralliance.com

What's the difference between http://webwork.staralliance.com/Index.html and www.staralliance.com, other than the webwork site is better (and tells me what I want to hear)? I ask only because the webwork site shows that I'm allowed 3 pieces of baggage as a *A Gold, and the staralliance site simply says I get an "extra baggage allowance". Sorry, but "extra baggage allowance" is not helpful one whit.

I'm flying SWISS JNB - ZRH in F as a *A Gold (connecting to UA to IAD - yuck), and I'm bringing 3 pieces of baggage. webwork tells me I won't have any problem. Will I? Maybe this belongs in the SWISS forum, however the SWISS web site is NOT helpful either, and I looked to the *A site(s) for clarification, and received none, thus my posting here, as this would seem to be more a Star Alliance issue(????).

The extra *G baggage allowance is either 1 piece (on tickets where piece concept applies) or 20kgs (on tickets where weight concept applies).

If you have one ticket JNB-ZRH-IAD then piece concept will apply. If separate tickets JNB-ZRH and ZRH-IAD then weight concept applies except piece for trans-atlantic.

*A website

Extra Baggage Allowance - an additional 20kg (44 pounds) or one additional piece of luggage3 which means you can check in three bags instead of two.

3.Applies on flights between North and South America.
