RTW options

Hello,
Need some advice from the experts.
I need to fly from JFK and either NRT first or SYD first.
Then SYD-NRT or NRT-SYD
The off to FRA-LHR-JFK
Suggestions? Tips?
Thanks,
Jon

Well, these two are somewhat mutually restricting but how's this for a first approximation:

jfk-nrt-icn-syd//mel-bkk-fra-lhr-fra-jfk

This comes to 27 945 on the GCM. It gives you

JFK-NRT on NH
ICN-SYD on OZ
MEL-BKK on TG
BKK-FRA on LH
FRA-JFK on SQ

or five longhauls on five different *A carriers.

Much tinkering possible, of course; as I said, first glance.

cheers,

Henry

Henry,
Thanks, that is my sons name. I am not against a side trip. I have 4 meetings in three countries. A day in BKK or SIN would be OK as I have been before.
Someplace new would be nice.
I am leaving on the 20th of May BTW.

How about JFK-NRT-AKL-MEL (side trip MEL-SYD-MEL is cheap enough in economy) -SIN-ZRH-LHR-FRA-JFK?

ZRH included for easy transfer and to get SQ's new 77W business class. There is a surcharge for this on RTW. Alternatively half the SQ FRA flights have 77W (and half 744).

Unless you want to stop overnight in FRA the LHR-FRA-JFK will need to be on LH (SQ's flight is too early to make the connection).

That looks like a good one. Do any of those flights have upgrade options from C to F besides LH with a paper SWU?
I would do NH JFK-NRT
SYD-SIN-ZHR on SQ?
Is it really worth an overnight in FRA?
Thanks!

Is it better to fly JFK-LHR-SIN etc in this direction or go the other way?
Opinions please?

Please be warned that the surcharge for 77W flights longhaul on SQ is US$500.

There is no surcharge if travelling in A class RTWs.

Unless you have meetings that need to be in set order then a matter for personal preference. Generally eastbound flights are shorter (due to prevailing winds in mid latitudes) and have shorter "nights" (due to direction of earth's rotation).

Personally I go for whatever suits my schedule.

If you are checking a bag you will probably want to fly JFK-FRA (leave bag)-LHR-FRA (pickup bag)-SIN-etc
or vice versa, in order to minimize the ill-effects of LHR's carry-on-restrictions and erratic baggage-handling.

Also, be warned that departing FRA for LHR on LH is a horrible experience with a duplicate security-check, look for a mob milling around among the duty-free shops in front of B31 (bus-stop-gate), with no fast-lane...

...Unless of course you can get a limo to the plane from the FCT, perhaps possible with an arriving F boarding-pass eg by using a printed-SWU-for-LH on JFK-FRA or SIN-FRA.
