Notoriously strict - search the forum for previous horror stories about the lounges at ICN.

I managed to do it in MAN yesterday, I think normally they're very strict but it all depends on whos working in what lounge and when.

ICN is one of the strictest places - do a search on ICN lounges to see some tales!

If you post your itin, maybe a fellow FTer will be passing through and can help?

Guess it is lounge specific - my wife (girlfriend at the time), her sister and I were travelling back to Canada 2 years ago via LHR and we tried to access the AC/SK lounge in T3. The attendant had a stern look on his face so it didn't look favorable (so it seemed) after 30 seconds of chit chat.

So I pulled up and politely said that "this is my fiancee and would you be so kind as to also let my future sister-in-law in as well?" (a little white lie at the time as she obviously is now my wife); they batted their eye-lids at him . He lightened up and said, "well, in that case no problem ... you are very welcome ... enjoy the lounge!"

If this helps, take note that your chances can increase if you ask nicely. I'd say most people regardless wouldn't mind - half of them just look at your card and don't even make note of the visitors that come in with you anyway especially if it is a busy lounge. If not, at least you tried.

[edited: if all else fails, place a request here on FT in the appropriate lounge's airline forum to ask if any *G will be around at ICN at the time and have them bring your other friend in, or look for passes to that lounge if anyone has them. Good luck!]

being nice is the key isn't it?...

I've had it work once in NRT as well... although those Japanese ladies standing by the door seemed to be quite strict...

I am in no doubt about your ability to charm the lounge receptionists... But I think the trick this time was that your fellow travellers was concidered to be "immediate family" after your story. It is a published benefit of SK lounges that you can bring your immediate family members, at least as a Eurobonus Gold and I think they use the same policy for all *Gs.

It is not offically a *G benefit AFAIK, but SK, LH, OS, LO etc. allow their own *G's this priviledge, so I would not be surprised if other *G's were extended the same priviledge at those lounges.

Talking

My two friends (doctors) I'm traveling with are African-American, and I'm as white as they come , so the "immediate family" thing wouldn't fly here..... (no pun intended) So if anybody is goiing to be at ICN that evening, let me know!

There is always the option of taking one friend in then leaving it a while and go out alone and bring the other friend in. If it were most places other than the infamous ICN then I'd fancy your chances.

Always worth a go, they can only say no !!.
