First time to BKK

Hi guys, I've being doing RTW ex-TPE for many years, but I heve never been in BKK.
This time I decided to start from BKK.
I would appreciate some advice: arrival, hotel and safety
Tks a lot

Gru1K:

Welcome to FlyerTalk!

Most of the people in this community are going to need a bit more info from you before they can answer you question.

I can tell you that BKK is safe, you should arrive by plane, and I choose to stay in a 5* hotel becuase they are relatively cheap.

I sure you catch my drift. Please be specific.

Cheers

I think that my biggest concern is safety.

It all depends what you want to do?
What kind of RTW are you trying to pull off?
Complicated Mileage Maxing Monstrosity?
Simple, $$$ saving efficient ticket?

Have you worked out your routing already?
Y, C, F, StarSPCL, Star1, Star2, Star3?

Are you going to BKK and then buying?
Are you going to be flying in just to buy and then leave?

What are your specific safety concerns?
99% of the people in this fourm likely feel safe in BKK.
Crime in BKK is likely lower than LAX.
A lot of it has to do with you're preceived level of safety versus the truth. Also the decisions you make while there also adds risk of varying degrees.

More info is vitally needed to accurately help you. Please provide it.

Cheers, Scho

On the topic of safety - Bangkok is a very safe city. I have found the Thai people are some of the most welcoming to visitors of all the places I've travelled. If you want to feel most reassured (unnecessary though) book into a 5* hotel, arrange an airport pick up and you'll be whisked through the airport from the exit of customs to your hotel in a nice vehicle. Alternatively you can use the overpriced - but still cheap in global terms - limosine service provided by Thai - they will escort you from within the non-public area of the airport so you don't even need to brave the crowds at customs without an escort!

I am doing a StarC1, 28950 miles, an easy one.
I am flying just to buy it, since I don't have much time.
I am trying to contact Guetravel, Ambika Tour and Reflection Travel
Tks for helping me

Is it all worked out? Flights stops, availability, etc.?
Is your PM (personal message) function turned on?
Are you trying to pinch every penny or looking for a good deal at BKK prices from a reliable source?

You could work it all out with UA and then go to the UA ticket office to buy it or you could use an agent and have the ticket in your hand before you ever arrived in BKK.

I have not used the agents you mentioned. I have my own, but will share via PM to serious inquiries. Basically, it reflects negatively on me if she needs to do a lot of work for nothing.

Cheers,

Scho
