Making date/time changes on a ticketed RTW

I've got a ex-BKK RWSTAR2 ticketed by LH, and I need to change the date and time of the 1st flight, which is on SQ. Does it make any difference whether I contact LH or SQ to make the change?

I do not want to scare you, but if I remember correctly (and pleas verify this with whoever issued your ticket), you are not allowed to change the date or time of the first segment. All following segments can be changed, but not the first one. This means that your ticket needs to be re-issued completely. This is not as big a problem as it sounds, but there is a fee and it probably means some paperwork. Also, it may need some time. Ticket must probably be re-issued by the original issuer.

Good Luck!

BTW, how can the ticket be issued by LH if the first segment is on SQ? I thought the ticket was issued by the first airline you fly on!?

I believe that changes to the first international sector are a problem only if travel originates in US/Canada and you request the change after the ticketing deadline. In all other cases, paragraph 16 appears to permit all changes before the initial flight.

Also, I believe that any *A carrier can issue a RWSTAR ticket, although some/most carriers might not wish to issue the ticket unless one or more segments are with that carrier.

I believe rule 15A means that the issuing carrier _must_ be involved for at least one segment (although not necessarily the first one).

cheers,

Henry

Right on ! The paper of *any* :-: carrier can be used to ticket a RTW, however the carrier of the paper being used must have at least one segment in the itinerary.

That's only for tickets with travel originating in USA/Canada/Mexico. For travel originating elsewhere in the world and only for Star 1/2/3 fares (not Starlite), you can change the sectors up to and including first intercontinental/international segment once ticketed, but before travel has commenced. Once travel commenced, it's a blanket rule worldwide that no changes to the rest of the segments up to and including 1st international one can be changed.

If the booking was made in the LH system (as opposed to an Agent CRS) then LH can change it for you, but probably easier to do it direct with SQ, as you can then also do seating, meal preferences etc at the same time. In other words, it shouldn't matter which of the two changes it - but LH won't be able to if they didn't book it in their system and they are only showing an information segment sent from the Agent CRS to their system.

I just got tickets EK/UA RTW from UA BKK office, and was told that first International sector is not changeable.
I thought * A RTW has the same rule even if we depart from BKK.

The :-: RTW rules say that - but you are on a EK/UA RTW which is not a Star RTW. Obviously the EK/UA RTW fare has different rules.
