SIN/BKK -> CPH in C/J

If I recall correctly, the consensus here is that SK's business class on this route is better than TG's. But what about SQ? SAS would yield more FF points because of EBG status bonus, but how do they really compare with Singapore--the wife's and my favourite airline in the world?

cheers,

Henry

I would put TG last of the 3 until they refit their cabins with the new C seat, which would move them above SK. Of those 3 SQ is easily the best. It's down to how much you want/need the miles

Copy MAN flyer. I would strongly prefer SQ over SK as it relates to cabins. I would go a long way to avoid TG in current cabin lay out - can't really comment on the new since I have not tried it
On the CPH-SIN run SQ has a day flight - which I find very inconvenient.

Keep in mind that neither SK nor SQ has a daily SIN-CPH service

If you go SQ, I'd take the overnight flight to FRA (747 vs 777 to CPH) and connect to early morning flight to CPH. The extra sector may help make up for some of the miles you miss by not taking SK long haul?

Thanks. We're looking at this as part of a fairly tight RTW. You're right that going via FRA would 'make up for some of the miles', as it's about 600 miles longer that way. Unfortunately, that would also 'bust the budget' STAR1-wise!

cheers,

Henry

In general I would agree that both SK and SQ are superior to TG, but on the CPH-BKK or ARN-BKK in J/C I would definitely go for TG as the Royal Executive Premium Class is available on these flights, which means that you will be seated in the (old) F cabin in the nose of the 747 and enjoy outstanding service. Nice! The old C cabins are now Economy Deluxe class. No F class to CPH and ARN any more.

Royal Ex. Prem. Class is only available between BKK and CPH/ARN which are operated with the old 747 planes. I suppose this "upgrade" (introduced last summer) was made due to the very old and poor J/C and F seats on the old TG 747 planes serving CPH and ARN.

I find SK and SQ C class quite similar, both very nice. I suppose it depends whether you prefer the very attentive FAs (but formal and little talkative) and superb service on SQ or the informal Scandinavian way with humor and much more relaxed attitudes (admittedly, some SK FAs can be quite grumpy, but in general they are very talkative and friendly)

The only draw back flying SQ or TG out of CPH is that you will leave around noon Danish time and arrive early in the morning in SIN/BKK; so very short night and usually very little sleeping. The SK flight leaves around 11PM but you have to go via BKK if going to SIN.

This won't be a problem, as we're going the other way ('SIN/BKK -> CPH in C/J').

cheers,

Henry
