*A lounge in KUL?

Any ideas? Lots of *A flights, but Thai appears to be the only *G lounge, as SQ is reserved for F (it's quite small and pokey anyway from memory)

I understand the Royal Orchid opening hours are restricted - does anyone know what they are? I want to know how early to arrive at the airport!

Thai Lounge in KUL is nothing to look forward for. I have been there a few times but I would not go to airpor early just because of that lounge (nice for a quick drink before your flight but nothing more).

royal orchid lounge

contrary to the previous poster, i really enjoy using the Thai Royal Orchid lounge in KUL. It's never usually full when I use it. They have a good range of drinks including bottled water for you to take along with you (naughty!), plus a range of dim sum. Sandwiches, fresh fruits, etc.

The toilets are not very well cleaned, but OK none the less. Magazine selection is average, chairs are very comfy and the typical purple colours surround!

SQ KF lounge staff aren't friendly and generally a very restrictive at letting you in - telling you to go to TG. Mind you - i've been in, and you're not missing much the TG lounge is nicer.

TG lounge is open about 7 or 8am in KLIA. If you are referring to an early morning flight on OS (Lauda) to SYD, I believe (it's been a while and I never tried) but you can use the 24 hour pay lounge for free if you are a *G flying on Lauda on those flights. Best to check with the airline just in case if you want.

Agree with kawoh--I like the TG lounge. It is nicer, not to mention larger, than the SQ one, which anyway is reserved for F and PPS pax. Food in the SQ lounge is pretty mediocre.

The Royal Orchid lounge also has (or had) very good Thai noodles. And it's not only my opinion--I've also been told this by a Thai colleague. Sorry can't help with the opening hours, though.

LH uses a contracted lounge at KUL. The lounge has decent views. The food is very limited. There are 3 computers with internet access.

Thanks everyone for the tips

Am flying SQ, so the Thai lounge should work. According to the SQ Malaysia page, it's open from 6:30am till 8pm, so it works for everything but the last flight out. See here: http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/app/...cation_KL.html

Atuchan, it's not so much about getting there early - more about whether to kill time wandering around the (ever so slightly dull) shops in the satellite!

I think NG and LH use the Plaza Premium, which is fine. Nasty food, but beer on tap, and (usually) quite peaceful

Plaza Premium

Hi,

You are right the satellite area of KLIA is super boring. As is the rest of KLIA.

I recall attempting to use the Plaza Premium lounge (this is just a pay lounge i think it's US$15 or US$25 for use) as the contracted LH lounge when I was in KUL last year. I believe I attempted this because there was either an LH or OS flight leaving from KLIA. As a *G I was refused entry into this lounge and told it was only open to those tier members flying on LH/OS that day.

Ah well, I tried! There really isn't much to do at KLIA.... there is some reasonable (but overpriced) Asian food upstairs. horrible burger king, And a deli france with wireless internet. There is a KFC land side and a cafe. You will get bored very quickly.........

Now the lounge that i'd love to try would be MH's.... that closes between 12am-4:30am.

No more Singapore Airlines and Thai lounges, as well as Cathay Pacific lounges. They all shut down during COVID. Other than Malaysian Airlines Gold Lounge, the rest are contracted lounges.
