revalidating a RTW

Hi,

My sister is on a *A RTW. She changed her return segments through the issuing TA, but the TA said she should call OS (the next airline she's trasvelling on) to see if they want her to come into the office to revalidate the ticket. Is this really necessary? When I was in JNB and changed dates on my RTW, at check in they sent me over to ticketing for a couple of minutes for the stickers, while the LH agent checked me in for JNB-FRA-CDG-LHR-JFK. The reason I ask is that for her to get to the OS office will be a 3-4 hour bus trip, each way. Is there really a reason for her to bother, instead of just doing it at the airport if they really want to put stickers on?

thanks

If the changes are only date changes and no routing changes: they can do it at the airport withing minutes. I would not go to a ticket office for this.

If the changes are also routing/airline changes they need to do a lot of extra checks (new mileage, new taxes....). This can take between a few minutes (experienced agent) to multiple hours.

What is the reason thet give for coming in?
