Routing Change & Ticketing

I'm mid way through a Star RTW (29k) and will be headed towards the US soon.

Currently have a JFK-LAX-PPT leg, but am now thinking of doing a JFK-SFO leg, then flying onto YVR, before flying back to LAX for LAX-PPT.

Do I need this reticketed (I suspect I do)- ie. to change JFK-LAX to JFK-SFO? Even with this change, I am below 29k, and I'm guessing I need to pay a fee to reticket (which I'm gathering is cheaper than buying LAX-SFO).

Thanks.

If your journey started here in Oz or Sth West Pacific, the reissue fee is USD75.00. Everywhere else in the world, it's a higher fee and nearly everyone with an ex SWP origin ticket is always told the higher price. If they quote it to you, gently prod them to read the change rules for SWP origin RTW fares.
If ticket issued before 15 April, make sure your YVR and SFO stops don't put you over the 5 max stops in USA/Canada.

And yeah - it will need reissuing if you are changing the route.

If I understand you correctly, the changes you propose are going to add over 2000 miles to your itinerary. You say you are below 29k; are you that much below? Alternatively, you might consider going JFK-YVR-SFO-LAX-PPT, which would add only 1100.

I expect that, yes, you will have to pay a re-ticketing fee. Changes to times/dates are free; changes to destinations are charged.

cheers,

Henry

JFK-YVR is on AC and leaves very early morning, while JFK-SFO-YVR or JFK-LAX-YVR will have more time options, in addition to the fact that JFK/SFO or JFK/LAX on UA will have the new PS service, right?

That may be. My comment was in regard to the distance restriction of his RWStar1.

cheers,
