RTW from Australia
Hi! Is Australia the cheapest place to purchase a Star Alliance RTW fare starting from Australia? Is it possible to buy elsewhere but start and finish in Australia?

My error...
NO not cheapest
YES can buy elsewhere
NO cannot start in Aust if buy elsewhere
YES can finish in Australia - but waste a leg..counted in milage allowance
try Fiji or Bangkok ..partic if Business Class
Aust is not too bad for Economy class RTW

Thanks, all. How much could I save if I purchase from Fiji or Bangkok? What's the best place to buy from? If I leave on Chistmas Day 2004 I can get a RTW for Aust $2229. (US$1649 - exchange rate =.74c).

And after all, you might want to factor in how to get from AUS to the various destinations... and no, we don't know how much everything will be after all this.
Sorry to be curt.. but as you're just new to the forum, and as much as we all want to help.... it's easier if you search around for the topics yourself and then after you get an itinerary going, maybe we might assist after that.
If you want to do a solely economy class RTW routing, try any local travel agency in Australia. They are better suited in catering to specially tailored RTW routings... after all, most RTWs originated in Australia with Australians' thirst for travelling the far flung places of the world way back in the 70s. The allianced based RTWs may not suit your travel needs.
Try Trailfinders or any travel agencies in your area.

)Can buy a RTW starting in Australia (or any other originating country) anywhere except USA.
eg. I can buy RTW starting & ending in Oz in YVR SQ ticket office.
Some countries' fares may require purchase in thier country.
For purchase outside of the US, it's based on starting countries fares, but USA has rules that require all RTWs sold in the country to price at ex USA fares.
