Note: The fare increase was specifically for ex-EGYPT only and only specifically for an immediate increase. None of the other places increased their fares. So the majority of the fares will be 'tweaked' during the normal fare increases which happen in May and Nov.
Now that Star Alliance fares ex-CAI are higher than Oneworld's... guess what will happen eventually?

Very sad.... I was/am on a continuous RTW. From my perspective it is rather unfortunate since I have a good friend in CAI and it was developing into a fun semi-annual stopover. But why this drastic jump to middle of the pack pricing?
Now Sweden is cheaper and it's a lot easier for me to get there. Oh, well.....
As you all know, the loophole evolved due to the floating of the EGP in Jan 2003 and it has depreciated badly vs. the USD and more so vs. the EUR. It's possible that it will depreciate even more in tandem with economic turmoil, but they have been able to keep a lid on inflation in the past 12 months.

upgrading an ex-Cai rtw en route
I'm in the middle of an ex-CAI rtw and I was thinking of upgrading it from a Star 1 to a Star 2.
Would I have to upgrade to the new Star 2 price?
