quick calculation question

quick logistical question. if i fly UA 861 from IAD-GIG (stopping in GRU) do the miles get counted as part of a STAR RTW as IAD-GRU-GIG or as IAD-GIG?
thanks.

I dont know the answer but would guess IAD-GIG unless you stopover (one or more days) in GRU. That seems to be how mileage earning is applied on various programs (where one flight number with transit stop en route).

MilesToGoBeforeISleep,
for the calculation of mileage flown it will be the starting and endpoint of the flight you take, in your case IAD-GIG even if the flight stops in GRU - unless you would ticket IAD-GRU-GIG, which could yield more mileage in your FFP - but cost you segment coupon extra assuming that the carrier you fly has the right to selling TIX to PAX from GRU - GIG only.

Cheers

Thomas
