Probably because you haven't read the rules?

However - I am puzzled. Are you UA 1K? Because as a *G, your lounge access is not limited by cabin of service.

The way the post is written, the OP was asking for a third party.

Star Alliance Lounge Access

[QUOTE=garykung;29828631]That's actually correct. *A policy says:

Quote:
The customer will need to show a boarding pass in International Business Class on a Star Alliance flight departing from the local airport.

Yes - it was 3rd party without status. But isn't virtually everyplace [including TMP - Finland] an international destination? So if the ticket was business class [regardless of all-coach type of plane] - shouldn't they be admitted?

Nope. It is the class of service on the boarding pass for the departure from that airport which defines lounge access. Doesn't matter that you arrived in J if the onward is in Y for any reason.

Still no.

Again - what matters is the BP for the next segment, not the ticket.

So when this third-party was traveling on an economy-only equipment, this third-party would not be entitled for lounge access because the BP was not a business class BP.

And again - *G are not subject this, as *G has lounge access with all class of services.

So just now I am flying TK C DXB-IST. For whatever reason TK uses a contract lounge at DXB. I visit the contract lounge (Muhaba). It's ok but I want to check out LH Sen lounge (I'm *G). Lounge dragon at LH lounge looks at my boarding pass and sees that it was already stamped with Muhaba lounge and says I can't access LH lounge because I can only choose one lounge. I tell her I'm *G and can access as many *G lounges as I want. She says no, I'm wrong, why would United pay to let me access more than one lounge? I say this is not a United thing, this is a *G thing, and in any event I have many times accessed multiple *G lounges at the same airport. She insists I'm wrong. I demand her card, tell her it's sad she doesn't know the rules, etc. I leave. Any thoughts? Am I right? Does TK contract lounge override *G rules? Thanks for any assistance as I plan to complain about her if I'm right.

She's wrong (and her error deprived LH of revenue). I don't know how LH operates at DXB, but the usual advice is to ask to see a supervisor when lounge dragon wrongly denies access.

Thanks. Not sure if that was an option at 130 am (lounge closes at 2 am) and in any event it was time to board my flight so I was over it. I really just wanted a peak at the lounge, but the attitude was so annoying.

i see you’re over it, but she was totally wrong. From time to time I visit multiple Star lounges just to check them out. Especially London Heathrow where I’ve visited four on the same day. LH lost maybe $20 revenue because of that lounge dragon.

You can access as many *A *G lounges as many times as you want as long as you have an onward *A flight. You are in the right and she’s wrong.

You would have access to both the LH Buiness & Senator lounges since you’re *G & traveling C.

These are basic rules that the LH lounge dragon shoud have known.

Where this makes even less sense is that United DIDN'T pay for you to access the Muhaba lounge. As you were travelling in TK C, the access to both that lounge and the Lufthansa Business lounge would have been paid for by TK. I'm not sure who would have had to pay for your access to the LH Senator lounge.

UA do pull a similar thing at NRT, at least when you are flying UA. They stamp your boarding pass when you enter the United Club. If you then try and access the ANA lounge using the same boarding pass they will refuse entry, with the stated reason that they will be not paid by UA given that you've already been in the United Club. Go to the ANA lounge first, or use a different boarding pass, and you'll get in fine. I doubt they would do a similar thing at DXB (especially given they have no services there), but it's possible - but again not relevant in this case.

Print out a few boarding passes then you can attempt to visit various lounges that you are eligible to.

How does ANA get away with that? Seems a clear violation of the *A lounge policy.

I've entered the ANA lounges plenty of times after leaving the United Club with a paper boarding pass stamped at the United Club. It's pretty common. I've never had a problem.

Lounge hopping is almost mandatory in the eyes of many UA *G flyers.

Definitely lounge hop as much as possible when I'm in Asia. Those lounges are the best.
