How does *Gold priority waitlist work?
Hi,
I'm a *Gold (with UA), and have made a booking with a TA for an SQ trip. One segment is wailisted. If my TA puts my UA number into the booking, does that mean I'm suddenly priority waitlisted? Or is there some other process?
thanks

I'm under the impression SQ's system is pretty good at picking up and recognising Gold status of other carriers FF schemes. Your WL segment should have a PA status on it, but having said that, the best thing to do really is to give your local SQ rez a quick call to ensure your UA number is in the booking and showing up as Gold status.
Cheers.

The NZ res system automatically changes a waitlisted segment to Priority status if the Elite FFP number is entered after the waitlisted segment. If the FFP number is already entered in the booking, any segment booked will immediately waitlist as priority.
I would assume SQ's system would work the same way.

SQ waitlists are, in my experience, always hadnled correctly - nevertheless a visit to your local SQ office in MEL is recommended (in ZRH the local SQ office also did 'enter' my preference for a exit-row seat (who officially will not be confirmed until check-in, but it worked for me).

I am waitlisted on OS flight but I am UA 1K.
If I gave my number to my travel agent and when she puts it in, does OS computer give priority waitlisting for me?? The FP number of other company can tell who is *-G and who is not?

When I booked a flight in Y on UA I could not select E+ seats when my LH (*G) number was entered. My TA called UA and the answer we got was to enter the same number as a UA number, which did the trick. So apparently UAs computers recognize LH *G numbers.

I've found this a good way of getting seats like 17A on 777's and other good seats.

Al B gives excellent advice (as usual). Call SQ and verify they actually see your FF#/status in their system. I had that happen with me where the T/A swore black and blue (not a good look on this particular woman) the FF# was in the PNR blah blah (and it may well have been in her end via Galileo) but SQ didn't see anything when I called them. When they put it in they confirmed my *G status. The waitlist I wanted never cleared, but that was a different issue (Those pesky H class seats just wouldn't clear!). This also happened to me just a month ago with LH where the number was not in the system, or status. Even on check-in (and after calling LH!). As soon as they put it in manually (well swiped my card actually). Bang. *G came up and my upgrade cleared. woohoo!
Good luck!
