Is taking a break from RTW possible?

Hi,
Newbie question...
Suppose I'm on an RTW originating from the U.S. and find myself in Paris.
Is it possible to
book a separate itinerary (round trip from Paris to U.S.),
then fly home to the U.S.,
and a couple months later, fly back to Paris and resume my RTW itinerary?
Thanks!

Yes, that is possible. There's a restiction how long you have time to finish the RTW: the return travel from last international stopover must commence no later than 12 months after departure.

No problem. I usually have several RTWs open and use them together with seperate side trips (award or bought) in combination.

I've nested STARRTWs three deep. No problems so far.

I'm on my SIN stopover on my RTW at the moment.

I've decided to take this stopover in the UK

I expect to return to SIN later on this year to pick up the itin. from there. Not even decided for sure how I'm getting back yet (though I have a theory that airfares to SIN/BKK may reduce considerably in the near future, sadly).

No problem at all with this, I even discussed it with the SQ ticket office where I ticketed my RTW.
