Best * Elite Program
Star Alliance is offering to comp ex-Ansett frequent flyers with equivalent status on )_any_ * airline if you fly with * ex-Australia before September 30. I was Ansett Diamond (top tier) - I don't actually know if that means I'll get comped to the top-crazy-super-mega-wow!-elite tier, but at least I should get my * gold back.
So with all that in mind, which program should I apply for (all are participating except ANA and BMI)? I tend to fly quite a bit long haul rather than a whole lot of short haul. Which has the best perks?
Opinions/thoughts/comments are appreciated.

BlondeBombers' StarAlliance ff-program comparison charts can help you in your decision making (there is no one general best, but their is probably one best for your individual flight patterns: what kind of paid ticket (class), from where to where to you fly, what is your award target (upgrades, free flights, for yourself or people flying together with you, status expiry dates, requalification rules, etc. etc.).
