Codeshares in C on * RTW
Hi,
I was hoping someone can help me.
My grandmother is going overseas in C class, and her final stop before home is TLV. To get home from there, she could take a TG codeshare to BKK, and then home on TG or SQ. The problem is, the availability on this TG codeshare is only Y4 M4 H4 Q4 S4 V0. C class isn't even offerred under the codeshare flight. The actual LY flight offers F2 C2 Y4 A2 D2 Z2 S4 M4 Q4 B4 H4 G0 U0. Is there any way to book her under the TG codeshare in C? If not she has to fly back to FRA, which means more miles, and an extra $1000 to include the extra mileage.
thanks

Officially (and by the rules): No - but (booking) agents do make mistakes, and once ticketed, chances are very good that nobody will find out till after the flight(s).
Officially carrier and (code-share-) flight number must be StarAlliance member (but that includes nevertheless flights on some non-StarAlliance members too, most prominently United Express).

Officially, codeshares cannot be included, but the TG flight number is not excluded in the fare rules, and I myself have had it ticketed a number of times, (though only in coach), which is where my question comes up.
If I book it, she'll be sitting in coach, which is something I'm not prepared to put her through.

Yes this TLV-BKK flight on LY is an oddity - it certainly is *not* excluded from the Star Alliance rules and so is legal. In fact when this question came up a few years ago I asked a mate of mine who worked the Star Alliance desk at a then * member (take one guess
) and he said it was legal and it would be ticketed as it was not expressly denied under the flight number exceptions.
Interestingly I have done this kind of thing myself before. I flew a NZ coded SQ flight back in 1998 or so before SQ joined * (SIN-AKL) - the flight number was permitted even though SQ wasn't part of the Star Alliance at that time. I also got NZ 100% credit for the flight rather than SQ's then 70% for Y travel, all under a Star Alliance RTW ticket.
I think Goodo's grandmother will have to fly back to VIE or FRA to connect back home - specially if she wants to sit in C.
