Purchasing a RTW in Germany/Advice

I am seriously considering purchasing a business class, 29,000 mile Star Alliance RTW ticket in Germany.

Is 4,299 Euros still a current price?

Any recommendations for point of purchase, a travel agent? LH directly?

In the past (1999 & 2000) I did experience problems getting "inventory" on some *A carriers when using an RTW, like SQ. Is this still an issue to consider when ticketing?

I plan on originating/terminating in FRA, using an award to get to/return from FRA.

Routing (very preliminary) is (Award BOS - )FRA - HKG - SIN - SYD - SFO - RNO - SFO - DEN - COS - DEN - PHX - TUS - PHX - DEN - STL - ORD - IAD - MCO - MIA - FRA (Award - BOS) on LH, SQ & UA

I am looking to re-qualify as a SEN on one trip.

Add'l advice & comments welcome.

Thanks

Just let me know, what you decide to do. I have a fast and reliable TA here in Dus ... and I'd be happy to assist in sending the ticket.

... or you pick it up in Dus ... well, you'd need to change your travel plans a bit like the reward from BOS - DUS and then start the RTW in DUS ... which adds another 5k miles into your account for 232 miles

I can offer you a very good TA in Mainz (just 20 minutes from FRA).

Have you consider to start the journey in Scandinavia?

Ex CPH is listed at 4045EUR and Ex Sweden is 4146EUR.

According to my computer the price ex Germany is 4572EUR.

If you could fly less then 24K miles there is a Biz RTW ex CPH for 3655EUR.

Kempis,

Prices ex-CPH are incredible compared to ex-CDG (UA website).

Are these fares available thru a travel agent or *A carrier? Thanks for your help.

Seconding Didier's post, kempis can you recommend a reliable point of purchase for a *A RTW in Copenhagen/Denmark?

I assume that the price you quoted in Euros has been converted from Danish Krone (DKK), and that I would pay for a RTW ticket with DKK, correct?

Thanks.

I usually book mine directly with SAS over the phone, and then pick up the ticket at the SAS ticket office in the middle of Copenhagen. However, the great thing about these tickets is that they can be picked up on the day of departure, so you can just have it issued at CPH airport before you leave. I would arrive a couple of hours early though, it takes a while for them to issue it.

The SAS agents in Denmark are very nice and patient, I've never had a problem making changes to my tickets even though it's meant a lot of extra work for them. Also, one of my tickets had only one SAS segment but SAS had no problem issuing it.

Just visited SAS website - Did not found the price quoted by Kempis. However, found North Star (max 24000 miles) C 31800 DKK or 4277 euros.
Did SAS increased their prices?
FYI Star1 29000 C is 4299 euros ex CDG.

I would recommend you to contact SAS in Denmark for the purchase of the ticket.

And yes you will pay the ticket in local currency, in this case DKK.
