Ansett Golden Wing life memberships is $1500 USD

With this card, one gets access to UA, AC, and LH lounges (including domestic) on day of travel.

Great deal!

Or gets placed in the hands of an administrator, which appears more than likely based on today's news!

$US1,500 = $A3,000. Ouch!

There's probably something I'm missing.

- If you fly enough, you can qualify for *G and get lounge access.

- If you don't, what is the reason for paying $1500 ?? Are you going to spend time in the lounges without flying ?

----

As an alternative, the American Express Platinum card give you access to 300 lounges (no fee) thru the Priority Pass program...

I am 1K on UA, but still have no access to RCC lounges when travelling domestic.

zrs70 Have noticed your various posts on
this item. Good for you. I am also 1k and
mm with UA. That last bill for UA RCC was a
bit much. Keep us informed if you have a
difficult time with RCC staff regarding
entry.

Well, UA and Ansett seem to disagree on lounge access. (UA's reply is below: it seems to be in-line with *G access, but not with GOlden Wing policy). Ansett has (verbally) assured me that I get RCC domestic entry.

I sent RCC an e-mail asking for written doucmentation that I could carry with me in case of any dispute. Here is RCC's reply:
*********
Dear ZRS70-

Thank you for your E-mail.

According to the Star Alliance agreement, you may show your Ansett
Clubroom card at any United Red Carpet Club to gain access, regardless
of what Star Alliance carrier you are flying on.

You may only access the Red Carpet Clubrooms when you are traveling
Internationally. If you are flying Domestically, you will be denied
access.

For further information on which Star Alliance Clubrooms you are able to
access with your Golden Wing Club membership, please contact Ansett, as
they will be able to provide you with the written information you seek.

Best Regards,

PW

As far as I am concerned, I've *A Gold (by Varig) and I can access any lounge, systemwide, as long as I carry this card PLUS a star Alliance Boarding card, independent of the fact of travelling domestic or intl.

But, VARIG does not sell memberships, you acquire the card once you fly 50k miles (within *A)

I wonder if the issue here is:

the Golden Wing club card is a lounge card, not a StarGold card, so separate rules/agreements apply.

$1,500??? That is extortion. Let me offer a better deal here folks.

You post me $US 500 in unmarked bills and I will SWEAR I'll pay your Golden Wing Club membership for as LONG as Ansett Airlines flies.

No limit to my generosity - keep those bills coming in. I will guarantee this for any number of memberships you want. I accept all credit cards.

UA 1K's and other *G are admitted to AN GW club without question.

However inter-club agreements (eg: Goldwn Wing Club card @ UA) _are_ indeed seperate from *G privs, and thus it is perfectly reasonable for UA to admit a GW Club member (with their card) flying domestic US only, but not an UA*G on the same plane.

The "no entry to RCC's for domestic travel" is only for UA*G - they just don't want to grant access to the hoardes of 1P's on domestic flights and this is a way around it.

Also for LH*G. I was denied access to the RCC at JFK last month (FC flight JFK-LAX) , and was sent to the FC lounge.

I can deal with that! FC lounges are far superior. But I was admitted to the new SFO RCC on a domestic SFO-PHX flight with my Senator card.
