I don't think (any) alliances do comp - some (individual) airlines (best bets are the NorthAmerican ones) do.
LH, in my experience doesn't (they didn't comp me, even when their partner UA gave up their only flight into Switzerland in 98: IAD-ZRH), Mr Fuchs (heading UA Austria/Germany/Switzerland still now) did even write a recommendation letter than to LH to comp me, but LH declined then ...

Ive been trying to get comped. inside Star Alliance. Im top level in 3 *A carriers (UA, LH and SQ) and would like to get comped on a 4th (Mexicana) since this year Im flying MX on a bi-weekly basis -at least- and don't want to book these flights to Frecuenta (instead to my MPlus account). So far, I havent been able to get MX to comp. me...
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
