Best FF program
Hi,
What would the be the best FF program for me to accrue mileage in? I have 60,000 points on AN, but as they run on points (km not miles) and I get on 70% for all discounted flights, I'm considering changing for my next RTW and on.
As I live in Australia, would Ua suit me best, or should I try AC with only 35000 miles required for gold? What about LH?
Thanks,
goodo

Two discussion threads might be useful to look at:

and, of course, if you haven't seen the new gold comparison chart, check out:

Depends mostly, what class of service you usually fly. If it is biz or F you will get the most out of LH's Miles&More b/c with M&M the service class bonus is not just bonus miles, it counts for status, too. M&M gives you 200 % in biz and 300 % in F. Once you've made FTL this is 250 % / 375 %. See the threads BB is referring to as well.

Goodo... let me add to Bernie ... LH is great if you are flying in PAID C or F. The actual bonuses, which are great have already been outlined, but in my experiance if you buy a Y ticket and upgradge., one only gets 100 percent of the miles earned. Another perk of LH is that the bonus miles you collect from flying F or C count for status, as previously mentioned

I agree to all of the above and might add, that I am very happy with the LH program, even though I fly a lot in Coach. Sure, UA MP gives me 100% status bonus in coach for being PremEx on UA and UA/LH codeshares, but the ability to upgrade any fare class with my M&M miles makes my day. Buy a Q class ticket on UA and try to upgrade internationally if you don't have the systemwide vouchers... no way.

forget about UA's Mileage Plus program (as long as UA doesn't change the followng rule): You can earn miles on inner Australian flights with AN only in a 30 days 'window' before or after a paid longhaule flight (with UA, or with AN from HKG).

I had 4 Express segments (twice LAX-SNA return) included in my Star-rtw in sep-98 (the pre-PIP-rtw). LH-ZRH did (wrongly) allow this and told me, just weeks ago, that UA later charged them seperately (something like a fine/compensation) for this fault.
When I booked (for my children) their rtw for spring 2000 with UA-FRA they refused the Express-segments (and faxed me the rules confirming that they were right).
It seems that your (UA-Express-) chances are fair if you buy your rtw not with UA.

Bernie, these are the LH rules for CRTWSTAR1 concerning UA flights:
Sound pretty clear to me...

EXCEPTION -FARES DO NOT APPLY ON -
-UA FLIGHTS 3338-3351/4000-4149/4200-4302/4500-4899/4966-4999/8300-8789

UAX is now pemitted on RTWSTAR tickets. I have just issuewd one last week and it includes 4 UAX segments with o problems. However the BD segments were refused even though they were LH codeshares in a permitted flight number range.
Has anybody been successful in using BD flights with a LH codeshare number on a *A RTW?? Please post if you have so I can get this ticket reissued. Thanks.

indogulf: are you sure that the UA-Express rules changed (for the better) - or could this just be just (another) overlooking by the issueing agent as it was the case for me a year ago?
... and I thought that I just received an email some days ago (when I was away from home) saying that BD flights/segments now can be included?
