PlaneSpotting

One of the perverse joys(as only FT'ers would understand it) of my daily commute is that I drive past SFO ever morning and evening and
always try to shoot a quick eyeball at the
ramp(s) for(I think) 19L and R to see who if anybody is lined up there. Lining up into position was a UA 767 in Star Alliance colors, UA at the nose, Air NZ, AN,Thai,SAS,Varig,et. al. along the body with
the Star on the tail. This would have been around noonish on Thurs. 7/20.

Any FT'ers here been on one of these (or even this particular one) before? Any particular
service differences from aircraft with the normal livery? Where were you headed?

Most of the * carriers have at least one aircraft painted in * livery.

The livery closest to the nose indicates which carrier owns it. In this case, it was a UA aircraft.

The original * carriers tend to have only the original 5 plus RG liveries in the "we've duct-taped the airplane together" livery. The newer members have gone for the "cover the airplane with stickers" livery.

The interiors are generally no different from any other aircraft. The carriers do try and move them around their networks to heighten visibility.

I flew an Air Canada A340 in Star Alliance livery a few weeks ago, LHR to Calgary. As AC*SE observed there was no apparent difference in service or anything else.

I saw the SAS * livery in Beijing a while back, but haven't seen the new 'stickered' livery yet.. but maybe I should go a bit closer to few more airports to increase that chance.

The 'stickers' livery is on NH for sure. Other examples:

Last October I was on the United Star paint job 767 from LHR to BOS. If I had not seen the paint job when boarding I would not have known. No difference inside.
