I have flown CA FRA-PEK vv twice in C, and would not say luckys observations are 100% correct. The 77W and 748 product hardware is the same as LHs (B/E parallel Diamond). The service is hit and miss, especially the food ex PEK is a challenge. PJs and snacks are more unusual.

HU flies PEK-TXL 4x/week NONSTOP, and has good J fares.

I can't quite figure out if there's a way to use miles on them?

Yeah, HU would be a good choice on general. But they're not bookable by UA miles as much as I'm aware..

AS miles work, but $1200 works also...and, you can earn AS miles.

If you were dead set on CA you could do CA via MUC which is on the A330 (instead of FRA on the 777). I haven't done the 777 or 748 on CA but I did the A330 SYD - PEK and for an overnight J flight it was perfectly fine.

Same seats as TK (ottoman style so no leg restrictions). Service wasn't anything special but was good enough for an overnight flight. I had no issue sleeping for ~8 hours despite turbulence.

I would certainly also add TK as stated above and SK's new business class with a short hop to Berlin. Both of them before CA.

But then you're not earning miles. I think he/she was referring to the sale they had just a few weeks back for Bus.
