Status Matcher

Hello,

This may be an obvious question, but it is regarding matching a status from Aegean Airlines.

I am currently a gold member for Aegean which expires in January 2016 and cannot see myself getting enough miles to retain this membership.

Is there a way I can extend this perhaps by matching this status to another star alliance member (or any other airline, ie Emirates, Cathay Pacific) thus extending it, even without booking a flight?

Thanks,

It depends on the airline that you're matching with. Some provide a match while others require a challenge which would involve booking flights to retain the membership.

Would it extend the expiry date since mine expires in Jan 16?

What I meant was for retaining your Star Alliance Gold status (with another airline).

If you mean extending the expiry date of your Aegean Gold membership or retaining it, then no. You would need to re-qualify Aegean Gold status by flying whatever requirements it entails.

Sorry, I meant that if I get my status matched with a certain airline, would they apply the same expiry date or would they extend this?

Also do the miles get carried over or would they just match the status?

Most likely the other airline would extend the expiry date of their membership.

Your miles would still be in Aegean (you can't move miles between airlines).

Best website for you, with reports from people who tried: http://statusmatcher.com/company/aegean-airlines

Look near the bottom, where it shows "Reports for leveraging status with Aegean Airlines Miles and Bonus".
