buying miles
Do you know some airlines that allow you to buy missing tier miles (e.g. in order for you to keep your status)? If yes, what is the typical cost? I heard that aegean airlines (a3) will start that in October.

American offered a straight keep your Gold status for $650. no Points involved

Thanks. I was more looking for a per mile price, so hopefully someone else knows.

Or $499, depending on some bit of data they have about you. Because that's the offer I kept getting.

Depends dramatically on the company and, for the programs tied to calendar year earning, how close you are to the EoY. UA charged between just under 10 to just over 30 cents per PQM in recent years.

But none of that should be used to predict what A3 will do, especially if the offering itself is not even confirmed.
