Collecting miles on UA or OZ?

I fly a couple of long-hauls a year with Asiana. I've always had those miles put into my UA account because I already had one. However, I'm now wondering if I should be opening a OZ account instead (because I never fly UA).

Can anyone with a knowledge of both FF programs compare them?

Main difference, UA has no YQ when booking award tickets, OZ has YQ fees.

Another very notable difference for a lowish mileage flyer is expiration of miles regardless of activity in OZ which would not be a factor with UA assuming any kind of activity every 18 months. Couple of long hauls a year would be about 40k a year in economy. OP isn't specific about redemption desire but that's 3+ years to build enough for a long haul premium class redemption. Most people on this board would say is by far the best use of miles.

It is also worth considering crediting to other *A programs. AV, NH and SQ all come to mind.

Thanks. I'm American so my kneejerk response has always been to continue using American FF programs even after I moved abroad. Sounds like there's no reason not to continue doing so in this case.

Or AP.

Amazing that UA has devalued its program so badly that Aeroplan now looks pretty good by comparison.
