Question about dropping segments

I needed to fly from OGG - LAS and due to seat sales on certain routes, it was 65% cheaper to buy 2 tickets.

#1 - OGG - LAX - DEN - YYC
#2 - LAX - LAS

I just flew the OGG - LAX leg and am waiting to now jump on the LAX - LAS flight and will drop the LAX - DEN and DEN - YYC flights. I know the LAX - DEN flight is overbooked so I can help the airline by letting them know in advance that I won't be getting on the other 2 flights. However, will either letting them know or simply no-showing those flights affect me collecting my miles on the OGG - LAX leg that I flew on UA but credit to my AC account?

I would not call UA to cancel your flights. Although most agents wouldn't care, you don't want some conscientious agent say "hold on and let me reprice your ticket". Just no show and the system will cancel your LAX-DEN-YYC flights. This type of ticket is called a "hidden city" ticket. Many FTers have used this trick. Airlines don't want you to do it and, in theory, can reprice your ticket, charge you for what you otherwise would have paid. In practice, they don't do it unless someone makes a habit of it.

You should get full credit mileage credit for OGG-LAX and LAX-LAS. No showing will not affect your getting full credit for flights actually flown.

Thanks so much for the info. To fly the 2 exact flights I am taking (Ogg-lax-las) was going to be $1300.00, while this way it was $380.00, so getting charged the difference would certainly hurt!

Nice find on the cheap fare! I would do the same thing as you did. ^
