BOM side-trip ideas?
Hi - planning a trip from IAH to BOM (using miles of course) for this winter. Does anyone have ideas on a good side trip / stopover with kids (young, but very good travellers) using star alliance? Open to any ideas, warnings, pitfalls, etc. Right now we are thinking along the lines of Thailand, SIN or maybe even Australia. Obviously I will have to see what's available using miles, but appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

I think you can still use your UA MP miles on Jet Airways, so why not take the family down to Dubai, stay at one of the nice hotels on Sheik Zayed Road, take them to the Wild Wadi, and maybe go skiing at the Mall? It's like no place else on earth1

If you want more culture, then take the kids to Oman and spend some time chilling in Muscat and/or Salalah. It's far more laid back than Dubai, but still worth the trip, with fantastic geological formations, kind people, and good food.
