Using SA for business upgrade on TK
Hi all, first post.
I'm relatively new to the world of upgrades, especially as it relates to SA.
I'm going to be flying KBL-JNB, JNB-ODS, ODS-KBL ---- all on Turkish Airlines. I have about 90k United mileage plus miles on my account and would like to use SA to upgrade from economy to business on the TK flights. As my organization buys only unrestricted tickets, what fare code should I get in order to upgrade with my United miles ? I am currently looking at getting B class tickets, which according to the TK web site are upgradable (along with Y). My question is - is there a discernable difference in the amount of miles it takes to upgrade between Y and B classes ?

Welcome to FT!
There is no difference in miles required between upgrading from Y or B class. The difficulty is that in order to confirm your upgrade, your flights need to have availability in the award booking class which may be hard to find. I believe you cannot waitlist so need to check regularly if a seat opens up.

Thanks for that. Good to know that B is as good as Y in terms of upgrades. Two of my flight legs (between IST-ODS) are relatively short and I'm not too bothered about the upgrades for those. Its the KBL-IST and more importantly IST-JBN and back legs that I'll try to upgrade for. Hope it works!
