*A LOUNGE ACCESS: question to the experts
I will be travelling on a SouthAfricanAirways ticket (SA) the following route:
Johannesburg(JNB) - Perth(PER) flying SA, and ***on the same day *** Perth(PER)-> Melbourne(MEL), but using QANTAS(QF) on this leg . Can I use the *A lounge in Perth(PER) ?
And return
MEL->PER (with QANTAS) and ***on the same day*** PER->JNB with SA. Can I use the *A lounge in MEL ?
Obs: I am United *A - GOLD and also TAM *A - GOLD.
Thanks much

Afraid the answers are no and no.
It's the operating metal that counts. No *A departing flights at originating airports, so no lounge access.

Perth to Melbourne is a domestic leg in any case and since we have no *A domestic carriers the only lounge in T1 is the QF lounge...
I'm pretty sure SA don't codeshare on the domestic legs so I'd say you're not going to get in unfortunately.
I'm in that lounge once a fortnight anyway, you're not missing out on much :-)

_____
Star Alliance Gold Customers Travelling in Any Class: Customers have access to any Star Alliance member carriers' owned lounges with the Star Alliance Gold logo at the entrance.
...
Customer must also present a boarding pass for travel on a Star Alliance flight departing from the local airport [emphasis added]
_____
So, QF MEL-PER would not appear to qualify.
cheers,
Henry

thanks
Thanks people. Very informative.
Regarding PER , I will be there for few hours... so I will try the SQ lounge, if it is open (it seems to be open only 3hs before the SQ flight).

Are you sure? The rules were tightened not too long ago and now read:
