Question Looking to defect! need help!

Hi everybody, I am a skyteam elite member based in Belgium, the best connections and flights are with Star Alliance and would really like to stick with them, but problem is that I fly cheap economy meaning becoming gold is impossible!

I know hear that with Agean 20,000 miles get me S gold, meaning even flying LX/LH/SN cheap economy can still get me the benefits of S gold.

Is it really as good as it sounds?! or are there certain things I'm not aware of?
Are there are any members whose program are as good or even better?

If buying S class fares are an option you can credit to LH or UA, or Aegean. And you'll get elite status. S fares earn 100% distance, not sure about status miles. I usually fly on Y/B/Z/C fares.

Please explain (sorry for my ignorance):
Is S class a very expensive fare?
By status do you mean silver or gold status?
Do you mean that S class automaticaly gets elite status?

Depends on the carrier...

He said that some economy fare would be enough to reach Silver status (3,000 miles on A3) or Gold (19,000 on A3). Deeply discounted economy tickets tend to earn reduced or no mileage in this program.

Do you mean that S class automaticaly gets elite status?
No, I don't think he wanted to say that

Problem with UA is that he/she would also need 4 segments on UA metal to gain the status. This might not be a problem if traveling to the US, but a real problem if that is not the case.

To OP: We would need to know if you buy only cheap tickets or cheapest available. I buy cheapest available, but sometimes that is a S,W or V etc. fare. Also good to know where you travel most often intra Europe, NA, SA, Africa, etc. Generally A3 is the easiest way to achieve *G.

Run a search as there are plenty of threads/discussions running on the whole A3 subject in the various airline forums (including BD) at the moment, which could be more helpful to you than hanging around here waiting for answers...
