Zonal Check in

Does anyone know what Star Alliance is referring to here as "zonal check in"?

It's where a number of *A carriers come together in one terminal (many examples around the globe, e.g. NRT, LHR).

Zonal Check-in is a unique system that instantly recognises whether you're flying Business or First Class and gives you automatic priority. And, if you're a Star Alliance Gold member, exclusive check-in zones make your travel experience even quicker.
Many airlines allow *G to use Business or First check-in counters regardless of the travelling class.
