Current *A RTW fares?

Hey gang,

Anyone know the current pricing on USA-Australia-Europe-USA fares with Star Alliance? I need to go to Australia and am seeing fares around $10k in business class. Thought if the RTW isn't much more then I would spend a little time in Europe before heading home. Any estimates would be great and if you know of good booking agents that would be helpful too

Look for the CRWSTAR.
For australia you likely need the 2 or 3 variant

You could also see if SQ has their special RTW. The FEZSQ was running around $7000, allows for 5 sectors. You would have to buy a separate SIN-SYD RT.

Also, you could buy a JFK-IST-KUL RT in C on Turkish for around $2500, and another on ANA from SE Asia-US in C for $2500. Again, you would have to buy a separate ticket from SE Asia to SYD, But this would give you a stopover in Europe and in Japan as well as 2 RTWs, one in each direction.

This is the F RTW on SQ.
I also copied the rules. It is very restrictive, no 380F, no SIN-SYD, need to make your own way at the end back to your starting point.

There is also a CEZSQ for 5299, but that one does not make much sense because it has surcharges for the 380, 77W and 345 and should end up higher than the F fare (no surcharge when you travel in business).

Then there is a CRWESC for 8200 which likely is better for you. NZ, Virgin and SQ. Same surcharges on SQ.

I had forgotten about the KVS tool... remember when it first came out here on FT and was quite a sensation. I will subscribe to it and review my options for this trip.

you can also consider a *A Circle Pacific fare in J starting in Canada--why Canada? Because the fare is about 1500 dollars cheaper than originating in the US. Total comes to around 8000.00 USD

*A RTW fares are not cheap at all and I consider them not a bargain. OW has better offerings and more flexibility.

Barring the comment above my post, I'm wondering if anyone can offer insight into RTW on *A.

I need to leave next week on something close to the following itinerary:

SEA -> DXB -> AMM -> HKG -> SIN -> KUL -> SEA

I was using the Book & Fly took on *A's website and in business it came out to around $13K. Coach was somewhere around $7K.

How do I find deals like the F deal on SQ? Do I just call a Star Alliance carrier and ask them to book the ticket for me?

I've read all the FAQ and I think I understand it and the only thing I can gather is booking through an airline is far more flexible than booking through the *A website. True?

You will get a lot of indirect flights if you want to fly *A. And you'd better hurry because you have to book an RTW a few days in advance.

You will not get more information when trying to book directly with one of the *A carriers. You might even get less information and a manual booking fee.
The *A book-and-fly tools show all available flights and issues you ticket immediately, so why go somewhere else.

A (good) travel agent might get you a better deal. That might not be the *A RTW.

Another vote for using a travel agent. The good oes will come up with some creative solutions.
One idea:
Look for Emirates. US gateway to one of your asian cities, back from one other (open yaw with a stop in Dubai).
Side trip to AMM from the stop.
Extra tickets inside Asia.

Where do you plan to purchase a RT C flight on NH for USD2500 to JFK? AFAIK prices are only as low as 3500 -- and that's not from KUL.

I found this routing through a travel agent just today, with about a 23-day lead time, for $7900 all in, in economy with mostly upgradeable fares. Took a couple of longer legs for extra miles. It's a work trip.

I didn't have the time to figure it all out (haven't done my own booking / routing here) but it's all with *A except for one Australian internal flight.

Wish I had had time to figure it all out and see how much the agent is taking.
