Egyptair in *Star

Did anyone fly Egyptair recently? The posts under Egyptair under "other Middle East/African airlines" are quite old and I was wondering if anyone has recent experiences with this airlines. I am flying with them from China to Nairobi, and only received bad comments about this airline. How did they get into *Star?

Hahaha.

I have only flown Egyptair a couple of times, but nothing special on those trips. I can't say I considered them to be any worse than many other *A carriers.

I flew them short haul in May.

IST-CAI-SSH SSH-CAI

They were similar to a low cost carrier with a lounge.

You do get a meal and an inflight magazine.

Can't comment on their international long haul services.

We flew in J from CAI to ATH and service was ok, nothing special. The plane was on the runway and they forgot to latch close the door, and the chief steward ran to do it after they were seated for take off. LOL. Lots of food served but just too much that it makes you sick just looking at it. But i have to say we had a pleasant flight with no issues.

Hi Everyone, I flew from LHR to BKK via CAI 2 weeks ago in C. My ratings are as follows:

Aircraft: LHR - CAI 8/10 (using 777-300ER), CAI - BKK 6/10 (using A330)
Meals: 7/10
Seats: LHR - CAI 9/10, CAI - BKK 4/10
Service: LHR - CAI 8/10, CAI - BKK 7/10
PTV (NO AVOD): LHR - CAI 4/10, CAI - BKK 4/10

There you go! not all bad as they say in C.

Gunn

Flew them a few months ago from LHR to CAI. Plane I got was very old. Y seat was a little shabby. Food was ok, nothing special. Found the FAs were much more polite to non Arabs. I was treated rather well, but you could still feel the "fake" hospitality. Safety standards are a bit lacking--specially with people standing up, walking, texting while talking off/landing. Having said all this however, I don't think they're really any worse than other * carriers. I still found them better than Shanghai and Air China. The food was better than UA. In fact, all around it was probably better than any US based * Carrier.
