bmi Transatlatic Baggage
I am flying from Detroit to Chicago, then London and finally Cairo (one itinerary.) I was wondering if it's possible to get my baggage checked all the way through to Cairo and not be charged for anything over the 20kg from bmi. I'm freaking out. This is the first time I've had such a strict rule for this type of flight, also they're overage charges are CRAZY. I've tried searching the old threads but most posts are a few years old and it seems like the policies have changed since then.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Is this on one ticket or one itinerary? Two different things. If this is all on Star Alliance, then normally your bags should be checked all the way from DTW to CAI. On the way back from CAI to ORD. If you get around the luggage allowance on the trip to Egypt, you still face the problem on the way back as your first carrier will be BD.

OK, they gave me one e-ticket number so I'm assuming that means it's one ticket? The good thing about the way back I'm on a co-shared flight by Egyptair and they have the normal restrictions I'm used to. Is it possible to not get the baggage fee from bmi if I check it all the way through to CAI?

If on one ticket it should be checked through and you should not be up for any extra charges. Also, the luggage allowance stated on the ticket should apply, what does it say?
On the way back, the MS code might not protect you from the BD luggage allowance if the flight is operated by BD.

Normally on itineraries within a single alliance on one ticket, the most generous luggage allowance applies throughout.
