Go with AC. AC does lounge for 35K+. If you can buy Y within reason (define:within reason), you can upgrade if you buy Flex fares.

However, international upgrades are only for 50K+ flyers. Might want to consider a MR so you cross 50K.

(1) What is your home airport? ATH
(2) What types of fares do you usually buy ? (C, F, Y, etc.) Economy
(3) How many miles do you usually fly each year? (<25K, 25k-50k, >50k) 20-25K
(4) Do you have any kind of status at present? What is it? None
(5) What is most important to you in a FFP? (Frequent upgrades on travel, priority services when flying the airline, good award redemption rates, free lounge access, etc.) I am looking for redemption rates - on transatlantic travel
(6) Which routes do you fly most often (US Domestic, Transpacific etc) ATH - EWR
(7) Preferred Airlines- None
(8) Do you travel for work or pleasure? (Can you chooose your airlines, class of service?) I study in NJ so I can choose my own airlines.

I live in Athens, Greece and I'm thinking of getting the Aegean FF program. I travel minimum 20K a year. I also have a family member who will be doing a very similar trip (ATH - YQM) twice a year, so would it be possible to keep a joint account and clock about 40 miles a year? Also, if it's possible to get the visa card in someone else's name, I have family in Athens who could use the card to rack up miles on everyday purchases. Is Aegean the obvious choice or am I missing something?

Thank you!

ADVICE: a better FF program for DEN-TPE

Our family travels to Taipei like 2 a year, plus i have business travel as well to Taipei, and currently is enrolled in the EVA Air FF. The service is alright, but the elite requirement is just too hard to achieve, plus the upgrade and free tixs r not that inviting either. Are there a Star Alliance FF thats offers a better..stuff than EVA?

For domestic I have Southwest mostly, but is thinking about AA, but is it worth it to get the AA or British Air Credit card if I travel under 25K a year? and Which one would be better? thanks

EVA or United (or orther) for *A?

(1) What is your home airport?
DEN (Denver, CO)
(2) What types of fares do you usually buy ?
Business for work, econ for personal
(3) How many miles do you usually fly each year? (<25K, 25k-50k, >50k)
>50k [some years might fall into the ~40k range]
(4) Do you have any kind of status at present? What is it? (UA Premier, M&M Senator etc)
Recently joined EVA (before *A partnership) as my flights are to TPE and HCM. I'm currently Silver *A via EVA mileage program.
(5) What is most important to you in a FFP? (Frequent upgrades on travel, priority services when flying the airline, good award redemption rates, free lounge access, etc.)
Award redemption, upgrades, and lounge.
(6) Which routes do you fly most often (US Domestic, Transpacific etc)
2-3 Transpacific; 1 Transatlantic, 5-8 domestic per year.
(7) Preferred Airlines
No preference.
(8) Do you travel for work or pleasure? (Can you chooose your airlines, class of service?)
Work and pleasure. When traveling for work, we fly *A. Personal, I can obviously choose.

I'm really trying to figure out if I should jump ship at this point and move over to United for *A qualification or just stick with EVA at this point? Maybe there's something else that I'm missing?

Thank you!

(1) What is your home airport?
LAX, SNA, ONT, LGB. Any airport in that area.
(2) What types of fares do you usually buy ? (C, F, Y, etc.)
Economy
(3) How many miles do you usually fly each year? (<25K, 25k-50k, >50k)
It depends. I don't really fly that much, so usually <25K. Might go into the 25K-50K range if our family decides to travel internationally.
(4) Do you have any kind of status at present? What is it? (UA Premier, M&M Senator etc)
None
(5) What is most important to you in a FFP? (Frequent upgrades on travel, priority services when flying the airline, good award redemption rates, free lounge access, etc.)
Upgrades, redemption rates. Wouldn't mind lounge access and priority services.
(6) Which routes do you fly most often (US Domestic, Transpacific etc)
Domestic
(7) Preferred Airlines
None
(8) Do you travel for work or pleasure? (Can you chooose your airlines, class of service?)
Pleasure

I have a roundtrip flight on UA from LAX to SAT coming soon, so I'm hoping to get a suggestion before then :)

(2) What types of fares do you usually buy ? C / J / Economy
(3) How many miles do you usually fly each year? ~70K
(4) Do you have any kind of status at present? What is it? Premier Silver
(5) What is most important to you in a FFP? reward flight redemptions, more automatic upgrades when purchasing full-fare tickets
(6) Which routes do you fly most often? Domestic - NYC to Midwest / SFO; International - HKG, but will be flying all over very soon
(7) Preferred Airlines: Currently United simply because of status, but will be flying to HKG, LHR, SIN soon and would prefer Singapore, Cathay, British Airways, etc...
(8) Do you travel for work or pleasure? (Can you chooose your airlines, class of service?) Travel for work, would like to reap upgrades for work-related flights and cheaper rewards flights for personal travel (don't care as much for points for class upgrades)

Hi
This is kind of a twist on a *A question as it is potentially broader....

I will be flying monthly MEL-MNL return in J for at least 6-9 months. So far I have been flying QF MEL-SYD-MNL and back. Happy to probably continue that and accruing to AAdv (though I do hate transiting through SYD and the QF J seat on A332 is not fantastic as it's sloping).

My other option is to fly SQ MEL-SIN-MNL return in J. I would need to pick a FF program to accrue to (used to have active LH M&M account but cashed it out), I know A3 is the easiest to gain *G on - after only 16k miles (almost just one return trip in my case). But given I am flying in J and don't need lounge access not sure that *G is the most important to me. I think what's more important is earn/burn rates and ease of burning. I notice that A3 only accrues 1.25 on SQ J and typical burn rates such as AUst-NA is 150k.

I also looked at VS and VA - earn/burn rates look similar. Can I achieve better value out there with another airline or is that the "market" rate?

Is there another (*A or other) program out there that I should be looking at as better value for my circumstances? I typically burn on J international flights, although could want to burn for Y for my family to Asia. Lounge access not very important as already have J access and unlikely to fly *A otherwise. VA obviously presents the most opportunities for redemption, so if there isn't another program giving me better value, i would likely stick with them.

Or should I just keep flying QF and accruing to AAdv since I already have most of my miles balance on AAdv?

Additional question - can someone clarify the J seat i would get on SQ MEL-SIN - it looks like a 772 but i can't figure out which of the SQ J seats that would mean?

In trying to keep to the format on this thread:
(1) What is your home airport? MEL
(2) What types of fares do you usually buy ? C / J
(3) How many miles do you usually fly each year? for business approx 100k - monthly MEL-MNL return
(4) Do you have any kind of status at present? What is it? *A nothing, OW Ruby (QF LTS, AAdv LTG-MM)
(5) What is most important to you in a FFP? earn/burn value esp for premium classes
(6) Which routes do you fly most often MEL-MNL return
(7) Preferred Airlines SQ...
(8) Do you travel for work or pleasure? (Can you chooose your airlines, class of service?) Both work (J to MNL) and pleasure (J on awards, Y on paid with family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids)

(1) What is your home airport? YYZ
(2) What types of fares do you usually buy ? Typically AC Flex for all domestic and transborder, have purchased 4 Sun Pass Florida Plus flight passes in M in the past (because of a lot of travel to LAS), occasional Z for overseas, but usually Flex.
(3) How many miles do you usually fly each year? 50K-75K, dont mind the odd mileage run to bump things up if need be.
(4) Do you have any kind of status at present? What is it? AC50K
(5) What is most important to you in a FFP? Priority Baggage, Lounge
(6) Which routes do you fly most often (US Domestic, Transpacific etc) YYZ to LAS, YYZ to AMS, YYZ to LHR, YYZ to FRA/MUC
(7) Preferred AirlinesI really like AC, but the recent changes to Upgrades kinda have me questioning why I am sticking with it. So just seeing what else is out there.
(8) Do you travel for work or pleasure? Mostly pleasure...Can choose airlines, but living 10 minutes from a AC hub means AC most of the time...class of service would prefer PE when flying with the gf. It gets expensive buying to seats with Z fare for J.
