Changing dates on RTW

OZ has now come up with a new ploy-- they have told my TA that every time the flight date is changed the ticket has to be reissued for a fee of 125.00!! I thought that RTW on Star A had unlimited changes of dates at no fee ( except first flight) and reissue is not needed-- but new rules keep popping up!!

It is clearly mentioned in the conditions of the *A RTW that changes in dates are free!

* Changes that require a rerouting will result in a fee of USD 125.00 per case.

After Departure

Thanks for the link and the response,This does not, apparently, apply to SQ or OZ!! Even my SQ RTW changing carriers is costing me 125.00!!

Assuming you have an actual *A RTW fare product, then something is fishy.

I've never had a charge for a date change of a SQ sector in all the RTWs I've flown. Hopefully it's not the travel agent trying to charge you on the sly...

The problem is not OZ, SQ etc specific but with many airlines and only exist since we have e-tickets.

The issue is that the IT systems of some airlines require a re-issue for every change done to the ticket, even a date change.
And the rules say that a date change which leads to a re-validation is free. So the airlines say that if a re-issue is necessary than they will charge the $125.

And many airlines require the re-issue for any change so they want to charge for the fee. This is of course against the spirit of the rules as the customer gets punished if the airline has a bad IT system which can re-validate a date change.

I had this problem many times myself and never had to pay. It is worse on OW IMHO.

Actually, the Fare Rules say that the $125 fee applies only to re-routes. A Re-Issue for technical reasons is not a re-routing.

Of course, I just wanted to explain why this issue happens quite frequently. The problem is that the rules only say that date changes leading to a re-booking/re-validation are free.

So if the date change is not leading to a re-validation but to a re-issue then some agents use this as an invitation to charge as in their mind a re-issue is $125.
