I stressed myself out as I brought my wife on a business trip and got her a First class seat BOS-FRA-BOS. I was in coach with a full Y fare but business was sold out. United kept telling me to call back because Lufthansa would not release any business class seats. it was sold out !
When we got to the airport in FRA, we checked in at the First class counter. They said there was only one business class seat left and I was not likely to get it. I resigned myself to go coach for 8 hours. We were directed to the first class terminal. A separate building outside the terminal.
The nicest Lufthansa staff member took care of us. The one thing she said that put us at ease was " you don'y have anything else to worry about, I will take care of everything and come and get you for your flight !"
A full open bar, a full dining buffet, a shower. I took a shower and had a glass of wine with my wife. I was now relaxed.
Lufthansa came back to get us for boarding, she had my wife's ticket in 2 A and somehow pulled off a business class ticket for me.... not sure how but wow !
We were escorted through passport control and into a black mercedes which drove us , on the Taxi way right to the plane. Up the elevator, escorted the whole way, they stopped the line so we could cross to first class where our escort handed the paperwork to the first class FA.
An excellent experience. A big surprise, and grateful passengers.!!!

Still not sure why you ended up in C when you bought a Y ticket, full fare or not..
