I don't know about NZ in SFO, but sometimes check-in agents steer you to a specific lounge, while they are still happy to give you an invitation to another lounge if you ask them. ...Or, sometimes, not. (And of course the *A logo *should* work as long as you can show them ticket and *G card.

I'm guessing you were flying Y? SQ won't allow access to their SilverKris lounges unless you're ticketed C or F. *G gets the cheap and nasty SATS lounge in T2 and a special Krisflyer Gold lounge in T3 which doesn't even have bathrooms!!!
