DEL to DXB Question

Folks

Trying to get from DEL to DXB on SA and can't seem to find a good route. Any suggestions out there? Happy to stop somewhere interesting as I know there are no direct flights but don't want to go all the way back to Europe if I can avoid it.

thanks

You can try connecting at IST flying TK. Likely the best option if you want to stick to *A. But its likely easier just to buy a ticket on EK or 9W - not very expensive.

Why would you take SA (South African Airways) from DEL to DXB? Firstly, its not really on route. Secondly, SA doesn't fly to DEL. And last but not least, they don't fly to DXB.

EDIT: Sorry, now I get it. You mean SA as in Star Alliance (*A). As zakami said, until AI joins *A your best bet will be TK. But tickets between India and DXB are relatively cheap anyway.

My bad, SA is really *A. Turkish sounds like a good way to go, any other ideas?

DEL-BKK-DXB with TG is probably a similar distance to routing via IST with TK. But either way you are nearly quadrupling the distance of your journey. I would fly direct with 9W or EK. If you want to stick with *A then I would take the TG option over TK.
TG = B772 and A346 (23hr trip)
TK = A330 and A321 (22hr20 trip)

EK = B77W (3hr25 trip)

I know which one I would take

So here are all options to DXB (note: those are carriers flying to DXB and not always to DEL so you might need to combine carriers).

TK via IST
SK via CPH
UA via ORD/IAD
LH via MUC/FRA
MS via CAI/ALY
CA via PEK
SQ via SQ Town
TG via BKK
LX via ZRH
OS via VIE

And those carriers actually fly to DEL and DXB: TK, LH, OS, CA, TG, SQ and the new UA/CO combo.

I might have missed something but that's a start. Oh, and 9W is a really good airline...

I flew DEL-DXB on EK. I earned the miles (no EQM) on UA. EK/9W/AI may allow you to earn miles on your fav *A airline. That seems to be the closest way to come to at least getting some miles on a *A carrier. As far as flying *A is concerned, previous posters have outlined all possible scenarios to you.
