Business Class

Does anyone know how many times a year business seats open up on Star Alliance ? -we were told today that they open up 4 times a year for people using points and we should wait before booking economy if we really wanted business.Does this sound reasonable?:

Told by who ? In relation to which *A carrier and which route ? I don't think that there is a uniform rule across the whole of *A regarding when , or indeed whether , redemption seats in business are made available for a particular date/route/carrier . Bear in mind that for some dates/routes there may never be any redemption seats made available by a particular carrier . If you were to provide a bit more information about what it is you would like to do ( and through which mileage programme ) you are more likely to get useful answers . In any case , good luck , I hope you get what you want .

business on star alliance

We are using aeroplan points and are flying to BA with air canada (star alliance). We called the aeoplan centre and they said business seats come up 3-4 times a year for all destinations -Just wondering how accurate this info is as we get different info each time we call to reserve.

This information is not correct. Depending on the airline, route and god knows what else seats can open up anywhere from never to daily. Some routes are extremely hard to get while others are easy. But it is certainly not true that seats open up and fixed dates. The only fixed date is (around) one year before the flight when (award) seats will be loaded for the first time.

If you are using AC mileage to fly on AC it seems to me that you would probably get more relevant advice in the AC forum rather than the *A forum - perhaps you might want to ask a mod to move this thread ? - just a suggestion . Hope you get what you want .
